🗺️ Geography
Pittsburgh is home to 446 bridges—more than any other city worldwide—earning it the nickname "The City of Bridges." The city is also famously hilly, featuring over 700 public stairways, the most in the US! Built at the meeting point of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers, Pittsburgh’s landscape is shaped by the surrounding Appalachian Plateau.
Getting around is easy with Uber and Lyft services, as well as POGOH, the city’s public bike-share program available at 60 stations throughout Pittsburgh. For maximum comfort and convenience, we recommend renting a car. We have free street parking, usually right outside our home.
The entire home, with the exception of the unfinished basement, is accessible.
We're professionally managed by HostWise Stays, one of the top-rated in the US! Featuring a 4.93 / 5 with over 13k reviews, we are in the top 0.1% in the country! With 24/7/365 rapid availability for anything you need, think of us as your "virtual concierge" but know that we have a full team in the area, should any issues arise that require in-person assistance.

Who is this Airbnb for?
After hosting our first 100+ groups and families, we’ve learned a lot about who thrives here — and who might not.
You’ll Be Very Happy Here If You:
✅ Value stories over stereotypes
✅ Travel to learn, not to judge
✅ Are open-minded, adaptable, and love exploring the unknown
✅ Welcome nuance, complexity, and the occasional contradiction
✅ Approach difference with interest, not suspicion
✅ Aim to leave places better than you found them
✅ Respect and welcome people of all races, colors, ethnicities, national origins, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and marital statuses — and value what we all bring to the human experience
We’re Probably Not the Right Fit If You:
❌ Feel uncomfortable with visible socioeconomic diversity
❌ Feel unsafe in diverse, urban neighborhoods
❌ Expect a city to conform to your idea of “perfect,” rather than embracing what makes it real
❌ View murals are a sign of “urban decay”
❌ Expect total silence after 8 p.m. (and call 311 if it’s not)
❌ Prefer to vent rather than resolve
❌ Treat hosts like servants, instead of fellow human beings
❌ Don’t like Pac-Man (okay, that one’s still optional)
Some of Our Favorite Guests to Host Thus Far:
> “I looked through over 100 listings to find the best for my group and came across this house. It was the best experience. They thought of everything and were very responsive with any questions I had.”
> “Beautiful town home... My family of 5 was very comfortable and the kids appreciated the theater room. Quiet neighborhood close to all the attractions Pittsburgh has to offer.”
> “Beautiful inside, lots of room, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, awesome theater room on the third floor, fully stocked kitchen, easy drive to everything... I could go on and on. We loved the attention to detail, such as reed diffusers, qtips, and cotton balls in the bathrooms. And speaking of bathrooms, they have a switch that turns on a purple or orange night light. All the little extras! For those of you into coffee or mixed drinks, great setups!. Games as well as Netflix on the third floor. We definitely plan to come back here when we visit Pittsburgh.”
We recommend Uber or Lyft to navigate Pittsburgh (or walking, of course!). With its hills, rivers, and bridges, Pittsburgh is a challenging cities to drive in—but also one of the most scenic!
Parking in our area is free and easy, with spots usually available right out front or in the free lot across the street.

Walk to great local spots or grab a quick ride to explore the city—either way, you're in a prime location!
Pittsburgh’s story is one of strength and reinvention. As a major industrial powerhouse in America, it was once home to more millionaires per capita than New York City, thanks to titans like Andrew Carnegie (steel), Henry Clay Frick (coke and steel), Andrew Mellon (banking and aluminum), and George Westinghouse (electricity and railroads).
During World War II, Pittsburgh played a crucial role in the Allied victory. Its steel mills were transformed into the "Arsenal of Democracy," producing vast quantities of steel for ships, tanks, aircraft, and weaponry. The city’s factories ran around the clock, powering the war effort and fueling the economy. Pittsburgh’s industrial might became synonymous with American strength and resilience during this period, helping to shape the modern world.
Like many Rust Belt cities, Pittsburgh endured significant hardships in the 1970s amid widespread deindustrialization. The closure of steel mills triggered economic downturn and population decline. However, Pittsburgh resisted fading away. Over the past several decades, it has successfully transformed itself into a thriving hub fo healthcare (UPMC, UPMC Children's Hospital, Allegheny Health Network), robotics (Gecko Robotics, Aurora, Onward Robotics, Carnegie Robotics), AI (Abridge, Voci Technologies), and education (Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Chatham University).
A defining feature of Pittsburgh’s urban fabric is its row homes—modest but sturdy brick houses that reflect the city’s industrial heritage and close-knit communities. Emerging in the late 19th and early 20th centuries during Pittsburgh’s industrial boom, these homes often feature front steps leading from the street and basements once used for coal storage or workshops. They fostered strong neighborhood bonds, with neighbors sharing alleys, stoops, and daily life.
This history of transformation is visible everywhere. It’s common to find million-dollar homes standing next to $10,000 fixer-uppers in neighborhoods throughout the city—including ours. This patchwork of old and new is not a flaw, but a vital part of Pittsburgh’s evolving identity. The tension between its industrial past and its innovative future creates a unique, authentic energy.
If that contrast feels uncomfortable, Pittsburgh might not be your ideal destination. But if you appreciate the beauty of transformation and want to experience a city with a dynamic heartbeat—where history meets innovation—we warmly welcome you to Pittsburgh and to our home.View More

Beautiful place! Easy to check in and out.
Close to the city! Quick uber ride to the stadiums. We would definitely stay at Chad’s place again! Chad and his cohost were very responsive to any questions we had! Thanks for a great stay! Place was great well thought of furniture and games for kids. Promp response from hosts for recommendations made our trip more enjoyable. Overall the home was well appointed. However there were some issues with the surroundings that had us a bit on edge. There is a bar in the corner from the home and during the weekend the noise increased and there was a lot of vehicle activity. The neighborhood is up and coming with lots of beautiful homes but many others abandoned. We arrived late so there was lots of activity in the corner however it was helpful to have easy access to the property. Once inside we were fairly happy until we encountered some plumbing issues which they quickly responded to however as a homeowner I know that this was a known issue that should not have escalated so quickly overnight after a few showers. After our 2nd night we started to see ants here and there then realized they had traps for ants so obviously it was also a known issue. Luckily we are pretty clean and always ensured to not leave food out and took out the trash during our stay. Lastly the backyard has no direct access Ting and Chad with HostWise were great hosts - very communicative and clear with instructions throughout the entire process. The house was just as pictured, and the place was within walking distance (about 20-30 minutes) of downtown Pittsburgh, the strip district, and the baseball and football arenas, plus there are a couple of restaurants/brewery even closer by on Ohio street. I'd recommend googling the address once you reserve the place to get a better sense of the neighborhood—that's what we did so we weren't surprised. We were a group of adults there for a long weekend and the place worked really well for our needs. Everything was as expected, and we enjoyed our time there.
