We converted this Lawrenceville storefront into a studio apartment, located near the Strip District, downtown Pittsburgh, and many other neighborhoods in the city. Lawrenceville is a walkable neighborhood with great amenities (see our guidebook for recommendations). This studio apartment is located inside of the converted-storefront of a 100+ year old building. You will enter through the front door into a very private and open space with 14 foot ceilings, a wall of exposed brick, and a handpainted mural. Large windows are covered in privacy film, letting in lots of natural light, and there are curtains that can be used to cover all windows for added privacy. There is an 8 foot tall wall separating the living room section from the queen-sized bed, and additional curtains to fully close off the bed from the rest of the space. In the back you will find a kitchenette with cooking basics and dishware, and a full bathroom with a large shower. There is emergency access to a shared stairwell, which leads to a fire exit to the rear of the property. Wifi is provided, and login information will be shared through airbnb as well as printed inside the apartment. There is no private parking provided, however street parking is free and there is almost always space available just outside the building. We follow our guests' preferences for interactions, and tend to keep to ourselves unless guests request or require assistance. We live in the building and are readily available to respond to any questions or help we can provide during your stay. We have lived in Pittsburgh for 10 years and have plenty of familiarity with the neighborhood (see our guidebook for our recommendations!) We’re also happy to provide personalized recommendations to help you enjoy your stay! Lawrenceville is a long, thin neighborhood that hugs the Allegheny River north of downtown Pittsburgh. It sits right next to the Strip District, Polish Hill, Bloomfield, Friendship, Garfield, and Stanton Heights. Butler Street is the main stretch of Lawrenceville and contains most of the neighborhood's restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, and breweries. Please see our guidebook for the attractions we want to highlight. It’s very easy to get around Pittsburgh from our building! Here are the best options • Two bus lines run on Penn Ave (one direction to downtown, the other direction to Oakland) and another bus line runs on Butler Street for additional options. • If you have a car, the city is pretty accessible, and most areas are less than 15 minutes away. It can be confusing to figure out which lane to be in so pay close attention to a GPS, especially on a bridge. Parking is fairly easy in most areas but it can take a minute to find a spot on a side street. Expect to walk at least a bit if you’re going to any busy neighborhood like the South Side. • Walking is a great option for getting around Lawrenceville! You can easily stroll to most destinations within 20 minutes and make it to adjacent neighborhoods like Bloomfield and the Strip within 20 minutes. Pittsburgh is a hilly city so come prepared with that knowledge. • If you’re bringing bikes or want to rent one from the POGOH system, you’ll just have to be aware that it is a hilly city. The area surrounding our airbnb is relatively flat, and biking towards downtown is pretty easy. Overall, the city is very bikeable, with lots of bike lanes. Follow your GPS directions for the most direct routes. NOISE: This studio apartment is in an apartment building in a busy residential neighborhood in Pittsburgh. We have done a lot to reduce noise, but this apartment is on the street level of an urban environment, and you will hear cars, buses, and pedestrians from inside the studio apartment. Generally, street noise is fairly mild at night. There are curtains on the front windows as well as around the bed to help reduce noise, earplugs are provided in the bathroom, and a portable fan near the bed will provide some white-noise. COFFEE: We provide a French press, a 4 cup drip coffee-maker, and a pour over with filters for use during your stay. Bring your own grounds with the right grind for your preferred brewing method. You can also purchase coffee beans from multiple coffee shops located within a short walk from the apartment. We highly recommend going to any of the locations listed in our Lawrenceville guidebook for delicious espresso drinks as well. TEA: we provide some loose leaf tea, tea steepers and a kettle for your use during your stay. CLEANING & SANITIZATION: The health, safety, and well-being of our guests are of utmost importance. For this reason, we use a thorough cleaning process after each check-out, using natural products that do not leave artificial fragrances behind.
