Great question. We've hosted all kinds of families—babies, kids, teens, and tired parents just trying to drink coffee in peace. We’ve never had a single incident, and our space is clean, calm, and kid-friendly.
The neighborhood? It’s eclectic and authentic. You might see a street mural going up, someone walking their pet iguana (yes, really), or a heated debate between a man and his own reflection. But there’s no danger—just the beautiful unpredictability of city life.
So, is it “appropriate” for your family? That depends on the kind of humans you’re trying to raise:
If you're raising curious, compassionate, adaptable little adventurers—this place is perfect.
If you’re hoping for a polished suburb with HOA-mandated smiles—maybe not quite.

Please note: our neighborhood is a SAFE, transitioning area. When 279 highway was built in the 70s, our neighborhood was cut off, and slowly atrophied - not in the form of crime, but simply that older people passed away, the houses weren't purchased, and fell into disrepair. In the last 5 years, the homes have been purchased by investors, including ours, and are being completely rebuilt, in some cases, from the ground up. It's exciting to see the neighborhood return to life!
That said - there are still some abandoned homes in the area. As you can see by our overall glowing reviews, we have an amazing property in an extremely convenient location. If you are not used to "city living" - you will see some abandoned homes in the neighborhood. You may see the occasional unhoused on the corner of the highway ~5 blocks away. You will also see brand new $700k homes right around the corner. If you are not comfortable with city living, and the "cons" that come along with the "pros" we suggest you look at other parts of the city, such as Shadyside or Squirrel Hill. If however, you'd like to be walking distance to the stadiums, or the strip district, or have easy access to the highway system, our home is a great choice!View More

75 inch HDTV with Fire TV, Netflix
Close to everything in downtown Pittsburgh and has everything you would need for a short to mid-term stay. The house is clean and has plenty of room for a family or group of friends. Has plenty of amenities for staying with babies as well. Very well appointed and clean home! Was perfect place for my family (the kiddos especially loved the third floor theater room and games). Walkable to Strip District, Downtown and Pirate games. I looked through over 100 listings to find the best for my group and came across this house. It was the best experience. They thought of everything and were very responsive with any questions I had. I wouldn’t walk to anything from here but very convenient for driving anywhere. Road noise was minimal to none and being close to the highway was a surprise. We were able to park our 3 cars right out front of the place. Everything exceeded my cleaning expectations (and I’m particular). I would stay here again in a heartbeat. 6 people definitely fit here comfortably. The theater room is on the 3rd floor but that did not bother us at all. The main bathroom was right outside the queen which was very convenient. The property was clean inside and the photos of the rental were an accurate representation of what to expect. I think this is well suited for adults rather than children.
